The Stewart Clan Magazine is a series of monthly pamphlets of eight or more pages that came out between 1922 and 1970, edited and published by George T. Edson of Olathe, Kansas, USA. It is full of family data on Stewarts in America, mainly in the southeast states, but also in New England. There is also a good deal of information from other sources on Stewarts in Northern Ireland and Scotland.
It was organized into TOMES, A through J, each tome holding five years' worth of issues.
Tome A, the beginning of a lifelong project, initially was the publishing of known genealogies, primarily those of the Stewarts of Londonderry, New Hampshire, of Duncan Stewart of Barnstable, Massachusetts, of Duncan Stewart of Newbury, Massachusetts, and other early New England Stewarts. The difficulties came when data was found about families after the original articles had been published and was contributed in bits and pieces by subscribers, so that information on a particular Stewart might be spread out and found in any or all of the Tomes. More of the new data George Edson found himself, wandering through the states each summer gleaning facts from courthouses and libraries -- a number of which probably no longer exist. Hence the serious need to index the entries.
